We’re so excited at all the new things happening at Art in the Garden Studio! Our resident art student, Claire Walgren, will be sharing her expertise on creating mosaic art in classes in March. Claire is a potter and is studying ceramics and wants to become an art teacher.

Another new class being taught at Art in the Garden Studio is Iphoneography.  This is a rare course to find, and when you do, classes usually run $275.  Take advantage of this!
The class will include how to use your iPhone or Android cameras to their best advantage.
How to use the free editing app “Snapseed”. Please have this downloaded to your phone prior to class.
Basic Photography concepts
Apps that can help make your pictures more “print worthy”
Settings on your phone that work best for selfies, videos, portraits and action photo’s.
And  places to send your photos to print that won’t break the bank and offer size options for your photos.
Each participant will be given a raffle ticket upon arrive for an opportunity to win a smartphone photo accessory  and a private lesson with Sonja at South Mountain to practice your new skills.
Sonja’s work with her iPhone Photo’s has been shown in New York, Miami and she has published a book called “Creative Soul, Creative Path”  using iphoneography exclusively.

Other news is that we’re getting ready to end our first Gallery exhibition on March 14th! If you’ve seen any art pieces that you’re thinking about buying, don’t wait any longer.
We’ve received several new entries for the next Gallery Exhibition that begins on April 1st. Our Gallery Open will be on Saturday, April 4th. We are hoping for another great community turn out for this. Stay tuned for more information, but I’ll let you in on a secret: We’ll be serving desserts at the Gallery Open in April!

Open Studio time is catching on! Bring in your supplies and work on your art projects while other artists are working on theirs. Our studio provides a perfect place to work and what’s more fun that working and creating with other artists??  Check out the website calendar because we have open painting times almost every day of the week.

News to look forward to in May: Ahwatukee’s best Cinco de Mayo celebration at Art in the Garden Studio. Luann with Tequila Snobs, LLC will be on hand to give full descriptions of all the different kinds of Tequila that we’ll get to sample! We’ll start the evening with a Mexican food dinner…. homemade, of course! Cost per person for dinner and lots of tequila tastes is $50 each. You’re welcome to bring in wine, beer or Margarita’s and we’ll be serving mock cocktails with dinner.

We’re looking forward to spring, how about you?
